Terms of Use
Effective October 16, 2026
In short: Kimah is a tool for collecting audio you have the right to collect. Use it for content that is published for download, openly licensed, or already yours. You are responsible for what you download with it. The app is provided as it is.
1. Who these terms are with
Kimah, the app and the website at kimah.app, is made and offered by JD Productions Inc. (“JD Productions”, “we”, “us”). By downloading, installing or using Kimah, or by using this website, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Kimah.
2. Your licence to use the app
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Kimah on Macs you own or control, under these terms.
- Free version. You may use the free version without charge.
- Licensed version. A licence key unlocks additional features. A key is issued to the person who bought it, for their own use. Please don't share, resell or publish a key.
- What you may not do. You may not sell, rent or redistribute Kimah, remove its notices, or modify or reverse engineer it, except where the law allows this regardless of these terms.
Kimah includes FFmpeg and LAME, which are licensed to you under the GNU Lesser General Public License. Nothing in these terms limits the rights that licence gives you. Details and source are on the Source page.
3. What Kimah reads
On its own, Kimah reads podcast feeds, direct links to media files, items on the Internet Archive, media on Wikimedia Commons, and files and folders on your Mac. Kimah's own code does not bypass, decrypt or otherwise circumvent copy protection or any other access control.
Optional web engine. If you have installed yt-dlp yourself, you can choose to let Kimah pass other web links to it. yt-dlp is separate, independent software. Kimah does not include, download, install or update it, and it stays off until you switch it on. yt-dlp is provided by its own developers under its own licence, and your use of it, including what you download with it, is your responsibility.
4. Your responsibility for what you download
Many recordings are protected by copyright, and many websites have their own terms about downloading. When you use Kimah, you agree:
- to download, convert and keep only content you have the right to, such as content offered for download by its publisher, content in the public domain or under an open licence, or content you own;
- to follow the terms of the websites and services you take content from;
- not to use Kimah, alone or with any other software, to infringe anyone's rights or to get around copy protection.
You are solely responsible for how you use Kimah and the content you collect with it.
5. Purchases
A Kimah licence costs US $3.99, once, for one person. Licences are sold through Paddle.com, which is the merchant of record for all orders. Paddle handles checkout, payment, sales tax and receipts, and its buyer terms also apply to your purchase.
After payment, your licence key is shown on screen. It doesn't expire and it works offline on Macs you use.
Refunds. You can get a full refund within 14 days of purchase, as set out in our Refund Policy.
6. Updates
Kimah may check kimah.app for updates and tell you when one is available. You can turn this off in the app. Updates are covered by these terms unless they come with their own.
7. Copyright concerns
Kimah and this website don't host or distribute anyone else's recordings. If you believe something on kimah.app, or something about how Kimah works, infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent:

Our designated agent is registered with the U.S. Copyright Office in the DMCA Designated Agent Directory, effective October 15, 2026.
Your notice must include:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- identification of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed;
- identification of the material you believe is infringing and where it appears, with enough detail for us to find it;
- your name, address, telephone number and email address;
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
- a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
We'll respond to every notice that includes this information. If you believe material was removed by mistake, you may send a counter-notice to the same agent. We may end access for repeat infringers where appropriate.
8. No warranty
Kimah is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Sources change and go offline, so we can't promise that any particular link, feed or file will work.
9. Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits or content, arising from your use of Kimah. Our total liability for any claim relating to Kimah is limited to the amount you paid for your licence in the twelve months before the claim, or US $50 if you haven't paid anything.
Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
10. Ending these terms
You can stop using Kimah at any time by deleting it. If you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, your right to use Kimah ends.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the effective date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we'll say so on the website or in the app before it takes effect.
